My goal is to give fallen trees a second chance at life through beautiful slab furniture.
The Materials
The lumber I work with is sourced from hardwood trees found in the Bay Area and throughout Coastal Northern California. The slabs and lumber used are all milled from trees that have fallen naturally, have already died, or have been felled because of disease. I source from some of the largest and most sought after premium hardwood lumber in the nation.
The Process
Working with clients to both guide and fulfill visions, I like my furniture designs to be as sturdy as possible, and I have a philosophy of over-building rather than under-building. My vision for each piece is to keep the design minimal and let the grain be the highlight; I like to let the lumber speak for itself. Each piece is made to-order, as per customer design preferences, and I manage the entire build process start to finish from raw material to finished piece
The Finished Piece
I achieve durability through the use of hardwood slabs and heavy gauge steel, while finishing pieces with environmentally safe and durable natural hardwax-oils. I like to ensure that each piece will be the first place that customers duck for cover during a California earthquake. These pieces of art are of heirloom quality; they are an investment sure to last.
